Compare the Best-In-Class Ford F-150 to the GMC Sierra 1500 In Richfield Springs

Here at Cooper Ford, located in Richfield Springs, we take pride in showing off our stock of Ford trucks and the near-legendary status the Ford F-150 has achieved. Equally impressive and well-liked in the light-duty truck community is the GMC Sierra 1500. Both handle performance and comfort expertly and have an assortment of features that will please any truck driver.

Take a look at our comparison of the two models below to see how they stack up.

Ford F-150 versus GMC Sierra 1500: Exterior

Both the F-150 and Sierra 1500 have a clean, muscular style that conveys that they mean business. While the GMC Sierra 1500 seems more angular and sharper with its lines, the Ford F-150 smoothly blends the curves that sweep along its front and sides for a sleeker design. The Ford model comes standard with All-Terrain tires whereas the GMC model uses All-Season as a baseline. All-terrain tires will have better traction in rougher conditions or where the road turns to dirt.

Ford F-150 versus GMC Sierra: Interior

If you're looking for comfortability, you'll be rewarded with more interior space in the Ford F-150. While the GMC Sierra 1500 offers more headroom and legroom in the front seat, with the extended cab option available for both trims, the Ford F-150 provides a more spacious ride for passengers in the back seat. Both trucks can seat three passengers in their regular cab option and add up to three more with an extended cab or Ford's SuperCab.

Ford F-150 versus GMC Sierra: Features

The interiors of both these trucks are stocked with features that will help to keep those long drives feeling more comfortable and enjoyable in Herkimer. For truck productivity, the Ford F-150 offers a 4.2-inch Driver Information screen while the GMC Sierra offers a 3.5-inch screen. Both come with seven-inch infotainment screens to access your favorite music and apps, but the Ford model has access to the SYNC 3® infotainment system that can upgrade to the eight-inch display with navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and much more.

If you're looking for safety features, the Ford F-150 offers more and keeps towing in mind with some of the standard equipment. The Ford truck comes with a Rear-View Camera with a Dynamic Hitch Assist which provides extra vision when hitching a trailer up to your truck, but the GMC truck offers a basic Rear-View Camera. Also standard on the Ford F-150 is the Curve Control system which helps to balance your truck and whatever you are hauling to help keep you safe and in control.

Ford F-150 versus GMC Sierra: Performance

Performance is where both models really shine. The F-150 offers a 3.3-Liter V6 engine that outputs 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque and the Sierra provides a 4.3-Liter EcoTec3 V6 engine that puts out 285 horsepower and 305 pounds per feet of torque. Both are controlled by a six-speed automatic transmission with the Ford offering Tow-Haul and Sport modes. Both have options for V8 engines, but Ford also offers a diesel engine and an exclusive 10-speed automatic transmission with some of their different engines. The Ford models achieve a better fuel economy of both highway and city driving over the GMC models. The Ford F-150 also features an all-new Power-Stroke Turbo Diesel engine that packs the torque you want from a diesel engine, with the features and technology you love from Ford.

The maximum amount a trailer can tow can be a huge factor when deciding on a truck to buy. The Sierra GMC can reach a max of about 12,500 pounds but the Ford F-150, demonstrating why it tops the class in towing, can reach about 13,200 pounds. The max payload of the GMC truck is about 2250 pounds and the Ford truck can handle up to 3220 pounds, also top in its class.
